In a time when Sri Lanka is facing the heartbreak of severe floods, thousands of families have been displaced, homes damaged, and daily life disrupted. Communities across the country are struggling to rebuild, while essential workers continue to stand strong on the frontlines. In moments like these, unity becomes our greatest strength.
ECU Sri Lanka stepped forward with purpose and compassion. On the 2nd of December, our team gathered at 5 AM to activate the ECU Active Kitchen, an initiative created to provide warm, fresh meals to those affected by the crisis.
Preparing over 800 packs of rice and curry before sunrise is no easy task. It requires commitment, coordination, and heart. Yet every single member present gave their fullest, driven by the belief that even one meal can bring comfort in a difficult moment. Together, we cooked, packed, and delivered each meal with care.
Through this collective effort, we were able to support communities in Kelaniya and Wellampitiya, as well as the dedicated individuals working tirelessly in these areas during the disaster response. Their courage inspires us and serving them was an honor for our university.
At ECU Sri Lanka, supporting the community is part of who we are. We feel deeply for our nation, especially during times of hardship. Being able to extend help and hope when it matters most fills us with gratitude.
We couldn’t be more proud as a university to stand with our people. This is the spirit of ECU Sri Lanka.
