n honour of World Lung Cancer Day 2025, the Bioholics Club of Edith Cowan University Sri Lanka took a bold and engaging step forward with Miles for Lungs on August 2nd that seamlessly blended fitness and education.
The interactive session was more than just a physical challenge. Participants encountered checkpoints featuring engaging tasks, awareness facts, and mini games focused on lung cancer’s causes, symptoms, and the crucial role of early detection. Volunteers and club members passionately shared knowledge on how lifestyle choices including regular exercise and avoiding tobacco can improve lung function and help prevent illness.
Beyond promoting physical health, Miles for Lungs aimed to spark conversations and remove stigma around lung cancer. The initiative brought together students, staff, and health enthusiasts, turning an ordinary day into a collective stride towards awareness and empathy.
With every step taken, Miles for Lungs reminded the ECU community that prevention and education are key in the fight against lung cancer.
