The Rotaract Club of ECU Sri Lanka, established on September 9, 2014, is dedicated to empowering young leaders and creating meaningful, lasting impact within communities. As one of the oldest and most active clubs at ECU, the club plays a pivotal role in community development, youth leadership, and professional growth.
Our initiatives focus on fostering sustainable practices, enhancing personal and professional development, and providing young individuals with opportunities to engage, collaborate, and lead. Through diverse projects and impactful events, we continue to inspire positive change while nurturing the next generation of responsible and proactive leaders.
We expanded our international network by sending 30 letterheads across 21 countries, completing four exchanges and establishing communication groups. Responses were received from Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, and India. We also hosted an online Origami Workshop with Rotaract Club of Kasthamandap, Nepal, strengthening international friendships and exploring future collaborations.
One Circle
OneCircle successfully completed its first two phases, bringing Rotaract members closer through shared experiences and meaningful interactions. From the energy of Karaoke Night to the friendly competition and bonding of the Pool Outing, both phases created opportunities for members to connect beyond regular activities, building stronger friendships, trust, and a greater sense of unity.
Interact with Rotaract
The Rotaract Club of Edith Cowan University Sri Lanka held its flagship initiative, “Interact with Rotaract,” on August 20, 2026. Under the theme “Your Journey Starts Here,” around 80 students engaged with past presidents, Rotary leaders and visiting clubs. Interactive activities, team challenges, and networking sessions empowered participants to develop leadership, problem-solving, and professional skills while connecting with the broader Rotaract movement.
Slip & Score
Organized by the Rotaract Club of Edith Cowan University, Slip & Score was a recreational sports event held on August 16, 2026, at Soapy Island, Moratuwa. Featuring a unique twist on traditional football played on a slippery surface, four teams competed across three matches. The event fostered teamwork, adaptability, and fellowship while delivering a fun, memorable experience for all participants.
Defeat Dengue – Phase 1
In August, 19 Rotaract ECU volunteers united to combat dengue across 4 km around Diyawannawa Wetland and Diyatha Park. The team removed 437 waste items to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, partnering with EkoWave to upcycle collected plastics into brooms and yarn for a cleaner, safer community.
Talk Sphere
Talk Sphere is a year-long podcast project that gives Rotaract members a platform to share their journeys, experiences, achievements, and personal growth through their involvement in Rotaract. On 22nd August, the first episode was recorded at Clerk CEO Restaurant, Malabe, hosted by Disinie Hemachandra, featuring Rtr. IPP Delan Carson as the first guest. The episode explored his Rotaract journey and the valuable lessons he gained along the way. Throughout the year, Talk Sphere will feature different members, celebrating their unique stories and inspiring the wider Rotaract community.
Project Beyond the Spotlight
On 27th August, the first episode of Beyond the Spotlight was published on the Rotaract Club of Edith Cowan University’s Instagram page. This monthly content series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the people, teamwork and candid moments that bring the club’s events to life.The first episode showcased the energy, collaboration and member interactions behind the club’s activities. The series will continue throughout the year, with a new episode released at the end of each month.
