ECU Sri Lanka was pleased to host Professor Paul Haskell-Dowland, Professor of Cyber Security Practice and Associate Dean (International & Strategic Partnerships), for an engaging academic outreach session with students from Gateway School.
The session introduced students to the fundamental principles of cybersecurity, with a focus on cryptography and its role in protecting digital information. Through an interactive cipher-breaking activity, students explored how data is encoded, secured, and analysed in today’s digital world.
The session was further supported by Madawa Senevirathna, Jethendri Perera, and Kavindi Tharika, who contributed to the academic discussions and facilitated the interactive learning components.
Initiatives like this play an important role in promoting STEM education while nurturing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and early interest in cybersecurity among school students.
