Our design students embarked on an insightful field visit to Arcade Independence Square, Colombo Fort Railway Station, and One Galle Face Mall as part of their assignment work.
During the visit, students observed their surroundings and engaged with the public to identify challenges and issues faced when interacting with these spaces. This exercise provided a realistic design context, helping students understand how to interpret complex public environments, considering social, cultural, and ethical influences on design, and communicate their ideas effectively during their design process.
This experience encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving while grounding their ideas in real-world contexts through observations.
