ECU Cybersecurity Mini Hackathon 2026

27 Jul 2026

We are delighted to celebrate the successful completion of the ECU Cybersecurity Mini Hackathon 2026, where students showcased their cybersecurity knowledge, technical expertise, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities through an exciting Capture the Flag (CTF) competition.

Throughout the event, participants tackled a range of practical cybersecurity challenges, collaborated effectively with their teammates, and demonstrated enthusiasm, determination, and critical thinking.

Following the hackathon, a dedicated debriefing session and solution walkthrough gave students the opportunity to review the challenges, explore different approaches, clarify key concepts, and further strengthen their practical cybersecurity knowledge.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Imran Malik for his valuable expertise, guidance, and contribution throughout the event.

We also thank the ECU Sri Lanka academic team, including Madawa Senevirathna, Hansila Sudasinghe, Jethendri Perera, and Kavindi Tharika, together with the IT, Marketing, Maintenance, and support teams for their contributions to the successful planning and delivery of the programme.

A special thank you to David Matthews, Matt Stanton, and Dr. Sajani Dias for their continued support in making this initiative possible.

It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm, collaboration, and active participation of our students. We look forward to creating more opportunities that foster innovation, practical learning, and excellence in cybersecurity.
