ECU Sri Lanka students recently participated in an engaging Internet of Things (IoT) hands-on workshop conducted by Professor Paul Haskell-Dowland, Professor of Cyber Security Practice and Associate Dean (International & Strategic Partnerships).
During the workshop, students worked with BBC Micro:bits to explore the core principles of IoT systems. The session provided practical exposure to programming devices, establishing connectivity, and developing interactive smart solutions, demonstrating how embedded systems operate in real-world environments.
The workshop was supported by Madawa Senevirathna, Hansila Sudasinghe, Nisal Mandira Thalpawila Kankanamge, Jethendri Perera, and Kavindi Tharika, who guided students throughout the hands-on activities.
This immersive experience successfully bridged theory and practice, strengthening students’ applied technical skills and bringing technology to life.
