Team ECU has secured 1st Place at the IOB Challenge 2026, organized by the Institute of Biology, Sri Lanka, under the theme “Biotechnology Towards a Sustainable Future.”
The team’s winning project, “Microbiome Guided Precision Fertilizer Optimization for Sustainable Tea Production in Sri Lanka Using IoT and Machine Learning,” explores an innovative approach to sustainable tea production by bringing together biotechnology, IoT and machine learning.
Adding to the significance of this achievement, the winning team brought together students from four different disciplines:
